A Year in Field Notes

Every single quarter, Field Notes release limited edition pocket notebooks. Their annual subscription fills you with plenty of notebooks to get writing, wherever you are. I love their notebooks – and I’ve raved about a few of the different editions every so often here. But as it’s almost the end of 2019, I took a moment to look back at the last year’s release and it hit me how apt each and every one was. For perhaps the first time, the Field Notes limited editions all symbolise something related to the season they were released in for me. I am keen to see where they go from this.

Field Notes National Parks series

My collection of brand new, unused notebooks was growing a lot faster than I was using them and storage quickly became an issue. So when my Field Notes subscription came to an end, I did not renew it. At least, that was until I saw the summer limited edition notebooks: The Field Notes National Parks series.

Field Notes National Park Series

As you may already know, Field Notes release a set of limited edition notebooks every quarter – available to purchase on its own or through an annual subscription. They are dropping their 44th quarterly release (the fall release) on Tuesday, 1st October, which I’m really excited to find out about. But this post is about their 43rd release because I absolutely adore it. I have from the moment it dropped and now that it’s finally in my hands, I had to shout out about it.

There is a soft spot in my heart for Field Notes. They put so much effort, thought and love into their products. It’s the finer details that make the notebook what it is for me. Everything from the outside of the book to the inside pages, from the cover to the details on the back. Each and every product is crafted with so much love. Even if I dislike the cover of that quarterly, there is always something to appreciate in them. But this time, I cannot fault it at all.  Continue reading “Field Notes National Parks series”

* Kaweco Perkeo Fountain pen: Bad Taste

Kaweco Perkeo Bad Taste

Kaweco is a brand that is very close to my heart, if I’m honest.  I have a few of their fountain pens and I love every single one of them.  In fact, I would love several more!  However, they recently came out with a brand new range called the Perkeo.  This range is quite a bit different to their typical style of pens.  So when Pocket Notebooks offered me the chance to review it, I naturally had to give it a test and see if it met my usual expectation from them.  Today, we’re looking at the Kaweco Perkeo “Bad Taste” fountain pen!

* Papio Press: Tiger Notebooks

Notebooks are probably one of the things that I have too many of…  Nonetheless, I’m always looking for more.  There’s a huge variety of ways that you could use notebooks so they end up being the easiest thing to hoard.  I go through notebooks fairly often, I think.  I like to have one in my bag all the time for on the go notes and then others for specific projects.  So when I came across Papio Paper notebooks, I sort of fell in love.  It was sort of love at first sight, to be honest.  The minute I saw how gorgeous the cover designs were, I was floored.  Today’s review is based on the Papio Press Tiger notebooks.

Papio Press have a huge variety of notebooks designs.  These illustrations are done by the husband and wife team that run the company, which I think is pretty amazing.  It’s one of those small businesses where you know that you’re supporting people’s dreams and livelihoods – and not just funding a corporate giant.  Each illustration is absolutely gorgeous.  I genuinely did struggle to pick just one favourite… So I just gave up!  Perhaps a top ten of those I equally love would be more realistic.

Papio Press Notebook - Tigers

Luckily I didn’t have to make that choice for this review as I was kindly sent a pair to review by Pocket Notebooks, who sent the tigers pack.  These tiger illustrations are stunning. I absolutely love the detail in the designs, and the vivid colours.  A black background really makes these colours jump out at you.

Launch Giveaway #4 – Fountain Pen Friday

Launch Giveaway #4 status: Closed.

For the final giveaway for National Stationery Week, I thought it would be perfect to tie it in with Fountain Pen Friday.  I absolutely love fountain pens.  There’s something satisfying about writing with a fountain pen and ink.  I’m pretty sure it makes my handwriting a lot nicer than other pens too.  However, not everyone is a fountain pen user.  So for Fountain Pen Friday, I wanted to do a giveaway that was open to everyone but also tied in with the pens I love.  As a result, I’ve chosen to add the “J Herbin Rollerball pen” to the bundle.  This pen has a rollerball nib but uses fountain pen ink.  It’s a great combination, allowing you to experience the variety of colours and fun of writing in ink whilst using a nib that most people are familiar with.  Be sure to check out the other two giveaways running over here.
