The Harry Potter Tag

Today I’m back with another blog tag.  This time, instead of focusing on Christmas, we’re moving to something I really love – and I’m craving to watch/read again: Harry Potter.   I definitely need a film marathon soon, I think.  In the meantime, I wanted to start by saying thank you to Meggan, over at Between the Pages for tagging me.  It’s perfect for today – where I brought even more Harry Potter merchandise.  I mean, there was an adorable mug in the store that I just had to have.  It was super cute.

What house are you in?

Every quiz seems to give a different answer to this… I’m apparently close to all of them as I’ve been sorted into every single one at some point.  However, I’m going with the official Pottermore result here – also because it’s the best – Hufflepuff!!

What is your patronus?

So I literally just did this quiz, as I hadn’t done it on Pottermore before.  I got… A Manx Cat!

What is your wand?

A Pine wood with a Unicorn hair core 10″ and Supple flexibility wand…  I have no idea how to take it?!  According to the official Pottermore descriptions of this wand…  Apparently Pine chooses an “independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious”.  I’d love to actually be independent and like to think of myself as such as person but I’m not sure it’s true.  I don’t think I can pull off the whole intriguing or mysterious thing as I think I’m pretty open.  In fact, most people can read me like an open book?  Who knows!

What would your boggart be?

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure.  I’m scared of a lot of things…  I guess, if I had to pick something, I would go with something along the lines of… being a genuine failure?  For me, this would probably be disappointing the people I know, getting rejected by them and being unloved and alone as a result of it.  (So you know, the pine choice is kind of a bit awkward haha).

What position would you play in Quidditch?

I would love to say a seeker but I feel like I wouldn’t have the guts to go for a role that influences the result so much.  In Netball, I used to play the Wing positions at school so I think realistically, it would have to be a Chaser or a Beater…  I’m leaning towards the Chaser role.  Because my upper body arm strength is lacking and is more like to send me flying off my broomstick than actually manage to hit anything.

Would you be a pure blood, half blood or muggle born?

Probably a pure blood, actually.  My family are very traditional and you have to marry a certain type of person.  It tends to be an arranged marriage so a pure blood seems to be the most likely result!  (Or a total muggle born, where I’m pretty much the only one who is different in the family.  They would not let me go to Hogwarts if I was a muggle born though…)

What job would you want after to have after graduating Hogwarts?

As much as I would like to say it would be something really exciting in the Ministry or on missions to hunt down evil… I feel like I wouldn’t actually do those things.  I’d probably end up opening up a shop, most likely with quills and parchments, special papers and different types of howlers.  Essentially… a wizard stationery shop!

Which of the deathly hallows would you choose?

The invisibility clock, for sure.  I feel like it would not only be great for getting up to mischief but it can also be really useful in just hiding yourself and getting away from people who annoy you!

Favourite book?

It’s hard to pick as I love them all but… The Half-Blood Prince was perhaps the most gripping one.

Least favourite book?

Probably the Chamber of Secrets.  I’m not entirely sure why.  I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the others.  In all of the others, there was something new and exciting, I guess.  Like the first set the whole scene, the third brought Sirius and Lupin into it, the fourth was were things started to get more serious and more real…  It all just got more and more exciting.

Favourite film?

Oh geez… I can’t pick this one.  I love them all.

Least favourite film?

I’ m really not sure.  There were a few moments where the films didn’t match up to the books, such as missed parts or bits that weren’t done as well as I would have liked.  Overall though, I loved them all.  Perhaps the Chamber of Secrets would fall under here again – probably because of the giantass snake though?

Favourite character?

Fred and George!  Sorry, I can’t pick between those two – they definitely come together as a pair.  (Yes, that scene did break my heart…)

Least favourite/most hated character?

Eurgh, probably Umbridge.  Do I really need to explain this one?  She’s just a nasty piece of work!

Favourite teacher at Hogwarts?

Remus Lupin!  Not only was he actually a good teacher, he actually cared about people.  He tried to teach them things that they needed to know – and he’s an awesome guy.

Least favorite teacher at Hogwarts?

Gilderoy Lockhart.  He was just so useless.  I hate when people are all talk and no action.  It was made even worse by the fact he was supposed to be teaching a really vital subject.  Like without Defence Against the Dark Arts, how did Hogwarts expect them to actually protect themselves against deatheaters?  As a teacher, he seriously failed and just annoyed me whilst he did it.

Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?

I’m not entirely sure Ginny and Harry should have ended up together…  And if they were going to, I think there definitely should have been a bit more of a build up to it.  It sort of felt a bit forced.  Like he had to end up with someone, if it wasn’t going to be Hermione.

If you could save one character from the finale battle who would you save?

Oh man, this is really difficult.  Whilst Fred was the first name to come to mind, there was a lot of great lives that were lost.  So many great characters!!  I can’t remember when but I remember reading something where Oliver Phelps (the actor who plays George) said it was really hard to play that final scene, as him and his brother did everything together even in real life so it really hit home.  So I think I’d have to stick with my first choice and go with Fred.

And there you have it!  Ahh, this was fun – I love this series and just reminiscing about it as got me really excited about watching it all again.  I need to dig out the books too and give them all another read.

I nominate:

Not sure if you’ve all done this already or not but thought you’d like it if you haven’t!
